Liver Biopsy

Liver Biopsy

A liver biopsy is a medical procedure in which a small sample of liver tissue is removed for examination under a microscope. It is performed to diagnose liver diseases, assess the severity of an existing liver condition, or monitor the effectiveness of ongoing treatment.

The procedure is carried out under local anaesthesia or short sedation. Using a special biopsy needle or biopsy gun, a small portion of liver tissue is safely obtained. Most patients are observed for a few hours after the procedure and are typically discharged home after about six hours

Before the procedure, the child should fast for at least six hours, and a prior appointment must be scheduled.
